Press Release - April 1, 2024 Increase to the Carbon Tax (Federal Fuel Charge) - Gasoline and Diesel Oil Prices

On Monday April 1, 2024, the amount of the federal fuel charge - commonly referred to as the "carbon tax" -- will increase on both gasoline and diesel oil as follows:

  1. For gasoline, the carbon tax will increase by 3.30 cents per litre (from 14.31 to 17.61 cents per litre)
  2. For diesel oil, the carbon tax will increase by 4.01 cents per litre (from 17.38 to 21.39 cents per litre)
